Adésys updates Octalarm-IP alarm diallers with 3G GSM-module
Tuesday 22 November 2016
The Octalarm-IP is an alarm dialler that dials out technical alarms to the responsible people. The alarm dialler does this using the fixed line network or the built-in GSM module on the 2G-GSM network. At the end of this year, however, the 2G network will disappear in a number of countries.
From 2G to 3G
In some countries, including America and Australia, the 2G network will be disconnected at the end of 2016. This means that the Octalarm-IP alarm diallers in those countries will then no longer be able to be used. To avoid this, the Octalarm-IP alarm dialler has been updated. The new alarm dialler can be equipped with a 3G GSM module, so that it can be used worldwide, also in countries where the 2G network will disappear or has already disappeared. A new rate will then apply. If you already have an Octalarm-IP alarm dialler, you can expand it with a 3G module. You will then not need to purchase an entirely new alarm dialler.
Will I need a 3G module?
In the Netherlands, the 2G network will continue to be connected and it is therefore not necessary to purchase a new alarm dialler with 3G module. Do you work abroad? In that case, it would be advisable to check which GSM coverage is used in that country. You can check this at http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html. Depending on the outcome, you can decide whether to purchase the new 3G module or not.
